Life Is a Combination of Colors

Color brings enjoyment and satisfaction to people. The highest signs of creation are known by colors.

"Color" has 17 different synonyms in the Persian language, but the main synonym is that which makes life meaningful and lovely. "Color" has the meaning of creation and beauty. "Color" gives meaning to life.

In art and literature, every color symbolizes something. Researchers are trying to determine the relationship between colors, musical instruments, and letters of the alphabet. For example, the color blue is like the sound of the violin; the Persian letter yeh ("i" or "y") and the color white remind one of the sound of the flute, and the letter "a" is said to represent regret.

Modern life has turned the people indifference toward every thing surrounding them, to whatever there is in the nature and divine gifts given by God.

Nature has given meaning to our life. People living in industrialized societies, especially in Iran has lost their tendency toward colors. They do not use colors in their clothing, from head to toe. It brings exhaustion and indisposition among the people.

In industrialized countries, the purpose of using color is different for different people. Colors are used to encourage employees in their workplaces, to motivate students about education, and to give people a sense of security.

There has been no comprehensive scientific research on the use color, it is usually based on personal taste, obsession with fashion obviously plays an important role in the use of color.

Musician Hossein Molla-Qolipour said that Iran has unique and varied geography with deserts, mountains, plains, forests, and seas, and a variety of colors. He added that the local costumes of people from different regions are in harmony with the nature and geography of their regions. He said, "For example, those living in regions of Africa, see all colors in jungles, different animals, colorful birds, and whatever exists in nature. But those who reside in polar regions see no color but white and different shades of gray."

He also mentioned the symbolic significance of colors among different peoples. He said that black is the symbol of mourning in Iran and is used in times of sadness. Black and dark colors in general are not favored in Islam because they darken the heart and soul. He added that white symbolizes grief and depression in India. He said that the different colors used in the handicrafts of Iran's ethnic groups represent their traditions and cultures.

Islam is a dynamic religion. A society needs cultural inspiration and happiness in order to grow and flourish.
